Bye Outride

Game Over!!!

Mes amis,

And in the end,
The love you take,
Is equal to,
The love you make.

This is the end,
My only friend: the end.

I'm free.
And freedom tastes of reality.

I was a free man in Paris,
I felt unfettered and alive.
Nobody calling me up for favors,
Nobody's future to decide.

Shave and a haircut: two bits.

Well, unfortunately, the Outriders have ridden out and GroupFire had one. We are a company no more. I am extremely fortunate to have worked at such a wonderful place with a bunch of swell individuals. As employee number 6, I played a big role in the creation of the corporate culture, and my colleagues seemed to enjoy the nonsense that I installed in the Comedy Corridor, and later in T H E Z O N E. The creation of those areas were two of my biggest accomplishments.

Many of you have received similar notes from me in the past. As you know, I'm far from risk prone and I fully understand that "If you play dice you're going to harvest wind," so I understand the risks. Also, as I told Mom when she had trouble SCUBA diving, fat floats, and I too will rise to the surface again. Since I've been through this process many times, I'm not that worried for myself. However, this is a new experience for Moe the fish and Pockets the snail, so I'm hoping that they survive.

Now that I have some free time, I'm looking for playmates. During the day, I like to drink, bike, hike, play tennis, drink, watch TV, catch up on Letterman, drink, catch up on the PBS Jazz series, go to plays, and go to museums. At night, I like to drink, attend movies, watch TV, and play mah jongg.

If you would like to buy me lunch, then this is your chance as I'm more prone to let you do so now that I'm unemployed. If you owe me a lunch, then this is a prime time to repay me. Also, as always, your kind thoughts and well wishes are gratefully appreciated.

I am also looking for a travel companion as I am suddenly blessed with free time. If you are interested in going away, and you don't snore, please contact me. Any place is an option at this point, although I would much rather SCUBA dive than ski.

If you would like to join me on any of these activities, please get back to me ASAP. One headhunter called me before my last day of work was even complete. Another called me in bed this morning. How he got in my bed I will never know! I'm very concerned that my available time will evaporate before long, so I want to make the most of my temporary retirement as I can.

As always, the best ways to get a hold of me are brody@alum.mit.ed.

Party on!
